Telangana without Hyderabad

The time has come when the land of Telugus might become the victim of pure political greed and lose its identity. Well, we are talking about our Andhra Pradesh and looking at the way the political situation is right now, the chances are that the Telangana state is likely in the cards.

Sources say that the UPA government is now considering the option of granting a separate Telangana state but with few conditions. First and mandatory norm is that Hyderabad will not be a part of it, the capital city is being looked at as a Union Territory.

The other condition is that, both Telangana and Andhra regions would be given a span of ten years to select and build their own capital cities. Well, this is the likely proposal expected from Sonia & Co. However, it remains to be seen what sort of reactions will come out once the proposal comes forward. Buzz is that this discussion is likely to happen in the month of March.

Lok Satta to Join with TDP?

The merger of Praja Rajyam Party with the Congress has raised curtains for the realignment of political forces in the state. Those who have not taken kindly with the merger are looking up to the Jaganmohan Reddy party or even the Telugu Desam Party and as the days progress, one can watch more and more somersaults from one party to the other.

The latest talk doing rounds in the political circles in the state is that Lok Satta Party floated by former bureaucrat Dr Jayaprakash Narayan is planning to have a tie-up with the Telugu Desam Party.Sources said of late, JP has been in touch with TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu discussing the latest political developments. It may be mentioned that JP had also called on Naidu on his fast-unto-death at New MLA Quarters over farmers’ issues a couple of months ago and since then, both the leaders have been talking to each other regularly.

Though Lok Satta is not a big party to reckon with in the state politics, it has done considerable damage to the TDP in the 2009 general elections by splitting anti-establishment votes especially in some urban constituencies. If the alliance talk is correct, it is definitely going to be some relief to Naidu. He is now hoping that the merger of the PRP into the Congress and Jaganmohan Reddy splitting the latter would help the TDP to a large extent in the next elections.
