YS Jaganmohan Reddy and his followers have entered into an agreement with K Shiva Kumar who has registered a political party in 2009 by the name YSR Congress (Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress) so that Jagan can use the name for his political party.
As per the constitution of YSR Congress as submitted to the Election Commission, Jagan became a member of the party following which he was elected as the president in place of Shiva Kumar by the central executive committee of the party. A letter on YSR Congress letterhead was sent to the EC informing them that Jagan is elected president of the YSR Congress.
Y S Jaganmohan Reddy will launch his YSR Congress party from Idupulapaya in Kadapa district on March 7.
The symbol of the party is likely to be the helicopter. However, until YSR congress contests either local or assembly elections and get a minimum of 6% votes, the EC will not be able to allot a permanent symbol.
