Telangana without Hyderabad

The time has come when the land of Telugus might become the victim of pure political greed and lose its identity. Well, we are talking about our Andhra Pradesh and looking at the way the political situation is right now, the chances are that the Telangana state is likely in the cards.

Sources say that the UPA government is now considering the option of granting a separate Telangana state but with few conditions. First and mandatory norm is that Hyderabad will not be a part of it, the capital city is being looked at as a Union Territory.

The other condition is that, both Telangana and Andhra regions would be given a span of ten years to select and build their own capital cities. Well, this is the likely proposal expected from Sonia & Co. However, it remains to be seen what sort of reactions will come out once the proposal comes forward. Buzz is that this discussion is likely to happen in the month of March.

Jagan Party named As YSR Congress

YS Jaganmohan Reddy and his followers have entered into an agreement with K Shiva Kumar who has registered a political party in 2009 by the name YSR Congress (Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress) so that Jagan can use the name for his political party.

As per the constitution of YSR Congress as submitted to the Election Commission, Jagan became a member of the party following which he was elected as the president in place of Shiva Kumar by the central executive committee of the party. A letter on YSR Congress letterhead was sent to the EC informing them that Jagan is elected president of the YSR Congress.

Lok Satta to Join with TDP?

The merger of Praja Rajyam Party with the Congress has raised curtains for the realignment of political forces in the state. Those who have not taken kindly with the merger are looking up to the Jaganmohan Reddy party or even the Telugu Desam Party and as the days progress, one can watch more and more somersaults from one party to the other.

The latest talk doing rounds in the political circles in the state is that Lok Satta Party floated by former bureaucrat Dr Jayaprakash Narayan is planning to have a tie-up with the Telugu Desam Party.Sources said of late, JP has been in touch with TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu discussing the latest political developments. It may be mentioned that JP had also called on Naidu on his fast-unto-death at New MLA Quarters over farmers’ issues a couple of months ago and since then, both the leaders have been talking to each other regularly.

Though Lok Satta is not a big party to reckon with in the state politics, it has done considerable damage to the TDP in the 2009 general elections by splitting anti-establishment votes especially in some urban constituencies. If the alliance talk is correct, it is definitely going to be some relief to Naidu. He is now hoping that the merger of the PRP into the Congress and Jaganmohan Reddy splitting the latter would help the TDP to a large extent in the next elections.

Australia crash to Chawla spin in warm-up match

Piyush Chawla spun India to a remarkable 38-run win over defending champions Australia in a high-profile World Cup warm-up match on Sunday.

India was out of the game during the first 72 overs. But the spinners led by Piyush Chawla wrecked the Australian innings. Piyush Chawla, who is playing his first ODI tournament at home, justified his controversial selection with a four-wicket haul.

Earlier, India won the toss and elected to bat first. They could post just 214 in 44.3 overs. Sehwag was the top scorer with 54, while Yusuf Pathan made 32. Virat Kohli scored 21, followed by R Ashwin (25*) and Nehra (19).

For Australia, Brett Lee took three wickets, while Hastings and David Hussey took two wickets each.

Chasing a victory target of 215, Australia were cruising towards an easy victory when they were 118/1 in 21.4 overs. Piyush Chawla changed the game with a four-wicket haul. He destroyed the Australian batting order completely.

Harbhajan Singh did further damage by removing the Kangaroos very quick. Australia bowled out for 176 in 37.5 overs. Ricky Ponting was the top scorer with 57, while Tim Paine made 37. Shane Watson scored 33.

For India, Chawla took four wickets, while Harbhajan Singh took three wickets. India will take on New Zealand in another warm-up game.

Fans Angry on CHIRANJEEVI for PRP

Pawan and Nagababu hating Chiranjeevi

Pawan Kalyan and Naga Babu formed a new party. Well, this is not political but personal. Sources say that groups are being formed in Chiranjeevi’s house. While Chiranjeevi and Allu Aravind are on one side, Naga Babu and Pawan Kalyan are on other side. The clash of opinions and interests is the main reason for this phenomenon, say many.

Hence these days neither Pawan Kalyan nor Naga Babu is involving in the political interests of Chiranjeevi. They are not happy with Allu Aravind who made Chiranjeevi a political figure knowing that it will not fit to his mentality.

Even in public functions, the united Chiranjeevi family is hardly seen these days. Allu Aravind is also drawing a circle around him and Chiranjeevi and going ahead with his ideology. Even in the recent ‘tea party’ of Anthony at Chiranjeevi’s house, neither Nagababu nor Pawan Kalyan were present.

It is known that Pawan Kalyan was Yuva rajyam leader but preferred to keep away from politics recently. But Naga Babu who helped as big force for Chiranjeevi’s political entry is now ignored totally. Hence Naga Babu took the side of Pawan Kalyan it seems.

PRP to get five ministerial berths?

The Praja Rajyam Party is expected to get five ministerial berths in the Kiran Kumar Reddy cabinet, as part of the deal to merge the party with the Congress.
According to PRP sources, Chiranjeevi had not put forth any demand in his meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi and she had offered him the berths in the cabinet, for which he had agreed. She also offered to give Chiranjeevi or any of his nominee a berth in the central cabinet as well.
Asked about the same, Chiranjeevi told the media that there were no conditions or demands from his side. “I am prepared to take whatever responsibility I am given by the Madam. We have also not asked for any berths in the cabinet,” he said.
The PRP president is likely to hold a massive public meeting in Tirupati very soon, his constituency, and make the formal announcement about the merger shortly.

Chiru likely to confirm on sunday

The Praja Rajyam President Chiranjeevi is likely to meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Sunday to firm up the deal between the two parties. After the meeting, the suspense will end over whether PRP will merge with Congress or work as its alliance partner.

While broad contours of future arrangement have already been worked out during Defence Minister A K Antony’s visit to the megastar’s residence, the forthcoming meeting with Sonia will give the proposals a final shape. Sonia is expected to formally put forward merger proposal before Chiranjeevi who will, in turn, convene a meeting of his party legislators to take a final decision.

All PRP MLAs have been asked to be available in Delhi on Sunday for the crucial meeting. It is likely that the meeting will pass a one-line resolution authorizing Chiranjeevi to take a decision on the set of proposals made by Congress. Subsequently, Chiranjeevi will make an announcement about his future relationship with Congress in Delhi itself.

The PRP has been promised cabinet berths at the Centre and in the state, besides a couple of MLC seats. The alliance is expected to neutralize the impact of Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and provide stability to the Kiran Kumar Reddy government.

Chiru aims Central Cabinet berth

The Congress high command on Monday is believed to have offered a berth to Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi in the Manmohan Singh cabinet at the Centre if his party comes to the rescue of Kiran Kumar Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh.

Antony, who flew down to Hyderabad in a special aircraft on Monday afternoon and had a meeting with Chiranjeevi, put forth the Central cabinet berth proposal before him. This is besides four cabinet berths to the PRP in the state and a couple of MLC seats in the next council elections.

Sources said Antony conveyed a message from party president Sonia Gandhi, inviting Chiranjeevi into the Congress party, instead of just joining the government. The PRP president, while assuring to extend support to the Kiran government to provide the stability, did not make any commitment on merging the PRP with the Congress party, sources said.
