Erra GulabeeluStory:

A hard hitting tale, the story begins with the arrest of Samar (Veera) by SP Vijay (Deva) who is investigating the deaths of three police officers. Samar reveals his flashback and this involves his troubled childhood where he is sexually abused due to his maniac father. The story also reveals about his neighbour Meenakshi (Swapna) who rescues Samar and becomes his guardian till he becomes a teen. However, things change when she gets married to her childhood friend and he is killed by Samar. On the other hand, Samar has a strong feeling for Sukanya (Sameera Reddy) and he kidnaps her. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Artist Performances:

Sameera Reddy has come up with an expressive performance and she shows the right emotions. Deva looks good and made his presence felt. Samantha was brief. Swapna Abraham was sensuous and effective. Ashwin was alright. The real one to watch out for was Veera who comes up with a riveting performance and has that menacing feel in his language and presence. The others did their bit as required.

Plus Points:

    * Cinematography
    * Veera’s Performance
    * Sameera Reddy
    * Production And Technical Values
    * Second Half
    * Scene Compositions

Minus Points:

    * Only For Select Audience
    * Disturbing Content

Analysis:

This is one of those rare path breaking films which are not seen in Indian cinema so full credit goes to Gautham Menon for coming up with such a treat. The fact that there is no music, songs, comedy etc makes it a unique project. Thrillers are usually risky ventures and it takes a lot of nerve to keep the audience hooked to the seat for two hours. This was achieved through this film. But then, this is not for kids, families, those with weak hearts. The reactions might be extreme considering the flavor of the subject. At the box office, this will strike profits and it will appeal to those who seek a thinking cinema.

Verdict: Absolute thriller! Only for strong minds and hearts!!
